Fall Fashion Transition: It's All about the Layers!
That perplexing in-between time is here—not quite summer, not quite fall.
In this week's Style Edit, we're pulling the pieces we reach for on repeat this time of year: easy layers, elevated fabrics, and a warmer, richer palette that carries you effortlessly from summer's last days into fall.
Start with a lightweight base: A fitted tank, cami, or thin long-sleeve tee that can stay on all day even as outer layers come off.
Add a transitional throw-on: A cardigan, lightweight knit, or unstructured blazer that's easy to tie around the waist, toss in a bag, or drape over an arm during the hot afternoon stretch.
Fabric matters more than season: Look for breathable natural fibers (cotton, linen blends, lightweight merino) that regulate temperature in both directions, rather than heavy synthetics that trap heat.
One statement outer layer for morning/evening: A denim jacket, trench, or utility jacket that reads "fall" but is easy to shed by 1pm.
The palette: Keep it neutral, but some warm-weather brights pair beautifully deeper fall tones (rust, olive, chocolate); your summer pieces will then feel fresh without a full wardrobe overhaul.
