Permission Granted: Break the Fashion Rules

In this week’s Style Edit, we’re giving you (and ourselves!) full permission to break the rules - fashion rules, that is.

Kim, Sylvie, and Christine share the rules they love to break, along with styling hacks that bring creativity and ease back into getting dressed.

Permission granted to break the rules:

• Try different sizes. Don’t get stuck on the tag. If you love the way an oversized piece drapes or moves, lean into it, even if it’s not your usual size.
• Wear the crop. Cropped jackets aren’t just for high-waisted pants. They can be a powerful proportion play layered over a dress or longer top.
• Style with Intention. Push up the sleeves, experiment with button placement, or wear a cardigan upside down or backward. Styling is where the outfit comes to life.
• Mix the vibe. Pair polished with edgy, sporty and classic. That contrast is often where your personal style shows up.
• Layer with intention. Break out of the “one-way only” mindset. Layer pieces over and under to add depth and dimension.
