Alembika Women's Clothing

Alembika was founded in Israel in 2005 by designer Hagar Alembik and anthropologist Dr. Judy Fadlon. Alembik came to fashion later in life, studying at Shenkar College while raising her daughter as a single mother — she described the moment she was first handed fabric and asked to shape it into a silhouette as the point design “started burning” in her.

The result is clothing built like sculpture: cocoon silhouettes, flowing layers, and eclectic color and texture drawn from Israeli street style. Alembika designs specifically for women 40 and up, across a wide size range, on the belief that the body changes and the clothes should move with it, not against it. At Evie Lou, Alembika is where shoppers go for pieces with real personality and room to move.

“One good decision can change an entire outfit.”

The Alembika Story

Alembika has built its entire reputation on one idea, done well: a jacket that can make an entire outfit. This isn't a full-wardrobe maker, and it was never trying to be — it's built for the days you need exactly one piece to change everything.

What's the Alembika Collection Known For?

Alembika is known for two things above all else: color that gets noticed, and jackets built to dazzle. Rich jewel tones, graphic stripes, and colorblocking most brands play safe are signature moves here, worked into stretch jersey and jacquard that hold their shape without hindering your movement.

The label's cardigans and jackets are designed to layer over its own signature knits, so a single piece can be worn a dozen different ways depending on what's underneath it.

Where Can I Buy Alembika?

Evie Lou carries a curated selection of Alembika clothing, spanning jackets, cardigans, and knits across sizes. New colorways and silhouettes arrive in waves through the season, and Bika fans are lucky — if Evie Lou sells out of your favorite style in your size, we can often special-order it for you.

Pieces shown as new arrivals reflect what's just come in rather than what's been on the floor a little longer.

What's It Like to Wear an Alembika Jacket?

Alembika jackets are built to hold a strong shape without ever feeling stiff. The stretch jersey and jacquard fabric moves with you rather than against you, so a jacket with real structure in the shoulder still packs easily for travel or breathes through a warm afternoon.

Expect saturated color rather than restrained neutrals — jewel-tone emerald, cobalt, and berry sit alongside graphic stripes and colorblocked panels throughout the jackets collection this season, each piece designed to read as finished the moment it's on.

Two Generations, One Question About Form

Hagar Alembik's father was sculptor Emanuel HaZofe, who worked in basalt, whereas she works in fabric — two generations exploring the same question about form and the body.

That sensibility is still visible in every piece: Alembika's cocoon silhouettes and flowing layers are built less like garments and more like small, wearable sculptures.

The Alembika Design Details

A handful of things set Alembika apart from everything else in the store — here's what defines the collection:

C

Color That Gets Noticed

Rich jewel tones, graphic stripes, and colorblocking most brands play safe are signature moves here — nothing in the collection is designed to recede.

O

One-Piece Styling

The jacket leads and everything else stays quiet. There's rarely a need to layer past two pieces: jacket over knit, done.

M

Built for Movement

Stretch jersey and jacquard hold a strong shape without ever feeling stiff, so a structured shoulder still packs easily for travel.

D

Designed for 40 and Up

Alembika designs specifically for women 40 and up, across a wide size range, on the belief that clothes should move with the body, not against it.

Styling & the Spotlight

How Can I Style an Alembika Jacket?

The easiest way to wear Alembika is to let the jacket lead and keep everything underneath quiet. Pair a bold jewel-tone jacket with one of the label's own signature knits — a fitted tee, a simple tank, a fine-gauge sweater — and let the color and cut do the talking.

Because the jacket is doing the heavy lifting, it's a formula built for anyone who wants a finished look without assembling a full outfit from scratch.

Why Wear Alembika?

Most collections ask for a wardrobe investment. Alembika asks for one good decision — it's the label Evie Lou might point you toward when you want real impact without overhauling a closet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Alembika jackets are often cut from stretch jersey and jacquard, chosen for how well the fabrics hold color and structure while still moving with your body.

You bet. Because the fabric has built-in stretch and resists wrinkling, Alembika jackets pack down easily and tend to hold their shape well after a day of travel.

Keep the rest of the outfit simple: pair a bold jacket with one of Alembika's own knits or a plain tee, and let the silhouette carry the look.

Alembika runs both a numeric scale (0–5) and an alpha scale (XS–L). The brand typically runs quite generously, so customers are often advised to size down in this brand.

“Machine wash cold, line dry” is Alembika's consistent house standard across their jackets.
